After two phone calls to this campground, one to make a reservation and one to re-book it, we decided to suck up the $39 and camp anywhere else. Why are these people in the hospitality business? I have never talked with a nastier person in a campground. When I called to make a reservation the woman on the phone told me she couldn't make a reservation over the phone, that I would have to e-mail. She relented, but then told me she couldn't send me a confirmation because she couldn't do e-mail. Later that day I received an e-mail telling me she couldn't e-mail me. Huh? And all of it very nasty. When we needed to re-book because of some trouble with our rig she was even nastier. I'll spare you the details of that encounter. We don't care how nice this campground is... it could be inside the Pearly Gates, but we will never camp here.
This is a crowded, messy county park with lots of shabby seasonals. Our pull through site was the best of the lot but still very unlevel. We wouldn't even go into the restrooms to check them out. Hook-ups were located pretty far from where you had to park your rig, but they could be reached. One night was enough, though we had a beautiful bike ride through the country side.
This park is brand new and still a bit raw. The trees have been planted but don't yet offer much shade. The facilities are all shiny, new, and nice. All sites are pull-throughs and level. Easy on and off from US 34 and US 218 is. The park itself doesn't offer many activities such as a pool or putt-putt golf, but it makes a good base for exploring the area or visiting friends or family. They bill themselves as a "day trip destination park". There is a playground for children.
This is a quiet, shaded campground associated with the attached Petrified Forest. Only one or two sites would accommodate our 40 foot 5th wheel, but they were nice. Very friendly and helpful staff. It was very peaceful here. It was good for an overnight or if you are visiting the Petrified Forest. There is lots of room for kids to run or ride bikes, but there are no activities or amenities for them.
